On Thursday, Arizona State Speaker of the House Rusty Bowers easily defeated Rep. Mark Finchem in a vote for new House leadership as continued vote counting indicates that Republicans will hold the majority.
The presumed members of the House Republican Caucus of Arizona’s 55th Legislature reelected Bowers keeping the status quo in place.
The House Republican Caucus also elected Rep. Ben Toma of Peoria to be House Majority Leader and Rep. Leo Biasiucci of Lake Havasu City as the House Majority Whip.
Bowers announced that he has appointed Rep. Travis Grantham of Gilbert to serve as the Speaker Pro Tempore.
Sen. Karen Fann was re-elected as Senate president.
