Pima County settles in Elias aide harassment case

A high school intern who said she was physically assaulted by an aide to Pima County Supervisor Richard Elias will be paid $10,000 by the county, according to a report by the Associated Press. The intern was working for Supervisor Ray Carroll and claimed that Supervisor Richard Elias’s aide Manuel Ruiz grabbed her from behind and refused to let her go despite her pleas.

The intern through her lawyer, Richard Martinez, filed a claim against the County year ago.

Carroll applauded the settlement saying that the County would have lost in a court battle. The AP reports that the intern characterized the 2006 incident as “unwelcome, offensive and undeniably sexual.”

  1. How do we get rid of Elias? He has bought of all the neighborhood associations in his district. He has funnelled money to all of his freinds and cronies. WTF do we do?

  2. I found this on-line reference to the incident from 2007. Can’t varify what the poster put down, but it is interesting.

  3. So where’s the companion story that says Ruiz was fired? Carroll’s comment is facetious and self-serving – Ho hum, another 10 G’s of taxpayer money down the drain……
