In Memory Of Christopher Ryan Ferrell

Christopher Ryan Ferrell was born August 14, 1971 in Prince Georges County, Maryland. Chris passed away on March 21, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. He is the son of Charles Rodney Ferrell and Janis Lee Allard and has one sister, Kelly Ferrell Koren. His family moved to Tucson when he was 8. Chris attended Amphitheater High School and went on to study at Northern Arizona University where he graduated with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. In 1997, he married Jennifer Hunnicutt, also of Tucson. They have two children, Carter and Olivia, to whom he was a patient, kind, gentle and completely loving father.

Professionally, Chris was the founding partner of the Ferrell Insurance Agency, where he established not only working relationships, but lasting personal friendships. Those who were fortunate enough to work with and for Chris know his generosity, integrity, loyalty and commitment. His reach in the community was also deep and wide.

Chris enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and friends. He was a fantastic golfer and brought tremendous joy to those lucky enough to spend time on the course with him. He was unselfish with his love and time, devoting countless hours to activities such as coaching youth soccer and tee-ball. His larger than life persona was infectious to his players and their parents, who often became instant, lifelong friends. He would never flinch to lend a friend a hand, be it moving furniture or lending a broad shoulder of critical emotional support. Chris was an avid Arizona fan, attending many, many basketball and football games both home and away. His recent role as host of tailgate parties has quickly become local legend. A die-hard fan of the Washington Redskins, Chris has soldiered through recent mediocrity with patience, grace and gritty optimism.

He is survived by his wife, children, mother, sister, a large extended family, as well as the countless friends he also called family. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 29 at twelve o’ clock in the afternoon at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a contribution be made to the Ferrell Fund at Pima Federal Credit Union.
