On Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. a deputy assigned to the Pinal County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Toyota Camry (rental car) on Interstate 10 at milepost number 202, in the unincorporated area of Eloy. The driver, Vonheinrick Geneve, 25 years of age, from San Francisco, Ca., was pulled over for a traffic offense, and the deputy could immediately smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
While talking with Vonheinrick, the deputy noticed a clear film canister which contained a ¼ gram of raw marijuana, in the open center console of the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed Vonheinrick was also in possession of a backpack containing 1.88 pounds of a high grade Hydroponic Marijuana and a digital scale. Vonheinrick stated his girlfriend rented the vehicle for him in California so he could visit family in Tucson. Evidence showed the vehicle was actually rented in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Vonheinrick later admitted to purchasing the 1.88 pounds of marijuana for $1,700.00 dollars and also purchasing the scale in Tucson with the intent to resale the marijuana.
Vonheinrick was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Transportation of Marijuana and Possession for Sale of Marijuana.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Vonheinrick thought he could smuggle marijuana through Pinal County. Thanks to an alert K-9 deputy his plan failed. He will not be returning to California anytime soon, instead, he will be spending time behind our bars.”
