The Pinal County Sheriff’s Narcotic Task Force received information in February of 2014 that 32 year old Phillip Vaughn, of San Tan Valley, was selling high grade hydroponic marijuana.
During the next few weeks, Vaughn sold high grade marijuana to an undercover detective on numerous occasions.
On Thursday, March 27th, 2014 Vaughn agreed to meet the detective at the Walmart located at 1725 West Hunt Highway to sell him $100 worth of marijuana. Vaughn told the detective he brought him $80 worth of “Nice Guy” and $20 worth of “Casey Dream” marijuana.
The detective paid him $100 and as Vaughn was leaving, he was taken into custody by other task force members.
Vaughn admitted he was using his “Arizona Medical Marijuana Program Identification” card to purchase marijuana at various medical marijuana shops in and around the San Tan Valley area. Vaughn was then illegally selling the marijuana to individuals for profit.
Phillip Vaughn was booked into the Pinal County Jail for Possession of Marijuana for Sale and Possession of Marijuana.
Sheriff Paul Babeu, “Arizona voters passed the law which allows individuals with a doctor’s approval to purchase marijuana to treat certain medical conditions. Phillip Vaughn used his medical marijuana card to purchase marijuana and then resell it for profit. Undoubtedly this is occurring by other individuals as well. I am sure this will not be the last case we hear about.”
