Pima County Walmart victims of apparent need to steal food

On June 27, 2014, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to the Walmart Neighborhood Market located in the 8th poorest metropolitan area in the country, in regards to a theft.

When deputies arrived, they learned a male and female entered the store and began loading items into their shopping cart. When they finished shopping they took their full cart to the checkout counter to pay. As the cashier scanned the items, she placed them in a bag and the male placed them in his cart. The last item would not scan so the cashier went to check the price. While the cashier was gone, the male exited the store with the groceries and put them into a maroon van.

The female remained at the checkout counter and gave the clerk a gift card with no cash on it to pay for the groceries. As the clerk repeatedly tried the card, the female walked out of the store, got into the maroon van and left the area.

Detectives are trying to locate the male and female and encourage anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
