McSally begins fundraising with help of government contractor

An email has gone out, purportedly from Arizona Congresswoman Martha McSally, inviting her supporters to the home Colin P. McCavitt on Saturday, February 21, for her first Phoenix area fundraiser since being elected to Congress last year. McCavitt is president of Stara Technologies Inc. which specializes in “developing and deploying technologies that meet the immediate operational needs of the US Government.”

“While it may seem early to begin fundraising, the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has already targeted her as one of the vulnerable freshman for the 2016 election,” reads the invite sent out by fundraiser Teresa Wright.

The VIP Roundtable Reception cost $1000 per person and the General Reception is only $250 per person.

State Representative Bruce Wheeler has already announced his intention to challenge McSally who won her seat by a mere margin of 161 votes.

“Fundraising is our greatest sign of strength, so we are working hard to gather early support!” reads the invite. McCavitt will share his $1.4 million dollar home for the festivity.

Efforts to  reach McSally staff have been unsuccessful.

According to its website, “STARA engages in the research, design, development, and production of system solutions and components for commercial and military use on Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), aircraft, helicopters, missiles, spacecraft, marine craft, and ground vehicles in the United States and internationally.”

STARA makes a Ground Surveillance Tower (GST), which “is a ground-based, mobile, multi-sensor payload platform that supports persistent wide area 360º ground surveillance operations. Designed to safeguard Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) and borders, the GST detects and monitors activities and persons of interest with various FMV, WAS, and GMTI sensors. Each GST is custom crafted to customer’s requirements and mission parameters.”

staraJust last month McSally promoted a border bill in which included an amendment calling for the Border Patrol to deploy agents “as close to the physical land border as possible” and to “deploy the maximum practicable number of Border Patrol agents to forward operating bases along the southern land border.”

According to the Green Valley News, McSally, who sits on the Committee on Homeland Security, helped “craft The Secure Our Borders Act, which retools border strategy by emphasizing technology, National Guard funding and new infrastructure, among other measures.”

On Friday, McSally will be hosting the “McCain 2016” fundraiser featuring Senator John McCain and Iowa Senator Joni Ernst at 11:30 am, at The Phoenician, 6000 E Camelback Road, Scottsdale. The VIP photo op will take place at 11 am. VIP Table Sponsorships cost $5,000. VIP ticket are available at $500 per person. Lunch tickets are only $200 per person. The re-election campaign fundraiser is hosted by McSally, Angela Ducey, Cheryl Flake, Cindy McCain, co-chairs Deb Gullett and Jackie Norton.
