With grace and humility Governor Nikki Haley and the South Carolina legislature removed the Confederate flag as a source of division and hatred.
Not so Democrats in Congress who proposed a measure to strip the Capitol of state flags containing the Confederate symbol.
Representative John Lewis (D-GA), among other black representatives, has called for a comprehensive review of all Confederate symbols and statues in the Capitol. Democrats cannot let a “good crisis” go to waste.
So much for Abraham Lincoln’s “with malice toward none and charity for all.” However, I do not think the Democrats have gone far enough in their attempt to revise history.
Democrats in Congress should enact a prohibition on Confederate History month, including Black History month, as both are associated with slavery. Democrats should go even farther and destroy every reference to the civil war because Democrats started the civil war, which reminds us of slavery.
Don’t forget our National Battlefields, which remind us of the civil war and the fight against slavery: Antietam, Tupelo, Stones River, Petersburg, Gettysburg, Fredericksburg, Appomattox, Harpers Ferry, Manassas, Fort Sumter, Shiloh, Richmond, Vicksburg, Chickamauga and Chattanooga.
Congressional Democrats should destroy any reference to the Emancipation Proclamation because it applied only to slave states, reminds us of the bigotry of slavery and of the Democrat owners of slaves.
But Democrats in Congress should go further in sanitizing their sordid history. The names of every Democrat President should be stricken from history because, as Democrats, they are associated with Democrat support of slavery and all the ugliness and evil it represents. Andrew Jackson and Woodrow Wilson were two of our most racist presidents.
Just think of an America cleansed of the vestige of slavery: no more Democratic Party.
Democrats are the historical owners of slavery. Democrats fought for slavery. Democrats created the Klu Klux Klan and Jim Crow laws that discriminated against Blacks. Democrats were behind the lynching of innocent blacks. Therefore, in the fashion of Democrats in Congress, the words “Democratic Party,” a vestige of slavery, should be stripped from every document and sign.
If Democrats want to erase all confederate symbols from America, Democrats must start with the Democratic Party.
