Dry Lightning Strike Starts Fire on North Side of Catalinas

Monday afternoon shortly before 4pm lightning started a wild fire that is located directly south of Catalina State Park. The parinig lot at he entrance to the state park was filling up with Oro Valley Residents wanting to get a closer look at the fire. The smoke was clearly visible from all over the valley.

At the time the Arizona Daily Independent was leaving the area at about 4:15 pm there was no sign of any assembly of equipment or men to attempt to control the Fire.
