Miller, DesJarlais Report Cyber Attack To FBI

Editor’s Note: Since this article was published, DesJarlais has admitting to faking the cyberattack.

Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller and a 19 year old member of her staff, Timothy DesJarlais, have filed a report with the Federal Bureau of Investigation about an apparent cyberattack. As a result of the alleged cyberbullying attack, the young staffer has become the focus of Miller’s political enemies and tabloids.

“I have filed a cybercrimes report with the FBI regarding allegations related to myself, my staff members and my elected office. We have been able to trace the photograph shown on the website for the “AZDailyHerald” to an individual named Mr. John Dalton. This information has been reported to the FBI cybercrimes investigations unit and will also be reported to local authorities,” said Miller after filing her report..

DesJarlais’ report reads in part:

“Someone impersonated me and sent emails to political figures. I have now been targeted by both the media and public officials, and accused of illegal campaign activities. I work in governmental office.”

DesJarlais was accused by the media of creating a fake online news site, and Facebook and Twitter accounts in order to solicit responses from supervisor candidates Marla Closen, Kim DeMarco, Steve Christy and Miller’s Republican Primary opponent, John Winchester.”

The media’s accusation rested solely on the fact DesJarlais once used the name Jim Falken in an online game, and that a photo he took during at a Board of Supervisors’ meeting for a person by the name of John Dalton showed up in fake Falken’s Twitter feed. Despite the fact that DesJarlais vehemently denied creating the fake news site, and anyone could have purloined a photo to claim as their own, the media began the attacks on the young man.

Miller’s report reads in part:

“Mr Dalton requested a copy of a picture from a Pima County Board of Supervisors meeting from one of my staff members. Shortly thereafter the picture appeared in a fictitious website under the name Arizona Daily Herald. This picture has not been posted or shared anywhere else so we were able to directly trace it to Mr. Dalton. By posting this, he is trying to interfere and smear an elected official by impersonating a member of my staff. He also is actively attempting to influence an election by posting false documents. I am in office and running for reelection.”

In response to the media’s attacks, Pima County Supervisor Ray Carroll attacked Miller’s staff and created a poster of sorts with marked delusional religious overtones. Carroll was baptized by Winchester on a joint trip to Jerusalem last year in the River Jordan.

One long-time member of the Pima County GOP described DesJarlis as a “sweet boy, who would never do anything illegal.”
