TUCSON, Arizona – Arizona Department of Public Safety officers, assisting the Border Patrol during “Operation Stonegarden,” stopped two vehicles Nov. 22 and ended up seizing 15 pounds of methamphetamine and 239 pounds of marijuana.
Officers seized the meth after stopping a vehicle for an equipment malfunction. Officers stopped a second vehicle for a traffic violation and found marijuana hidden in the front main frame, bumper and all four doors.
Operation Stonegarden is a Department of Homeland Security grant program that supports enhanced cooperation and coordination among Customs and Border Protection and local, tribal, territorial, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies. Operation Stonegarden funds investments in joint efforts to secure the United States borders along routes of ingress from international borders to include travel corridors in states bordering Mexico and Canada, as well as states and territories with International water borders.
