When The System Fails Us We Only Have Each Other

Kris Wells,  a single mother living in rural Picture Rocks west of the Tucson Mountains, is in trouble.   Last March she was diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer that is being controlled with $500 a month in medications. Her insurance, as of January 1, reinstated a $2000 deductible, an amount she has to meet by January 20 or lose the medications.  Her 23-year-old daughter has mild cerebral palsy, but holds down a job and helps hold their home together.

Kris is doing all the footwork – applying for grants and contacting agencies, but that deadline is coming up fast.  Like most people, Kris is not good at asking for help, but allowed some friends to help her set up a GoFundMe website. It is her only hope of continuing treatment and staying healthy.  She has never made an appeal for funds before, and considers it a last resort.
