Former Cardinal Todd Heap Accidentally Kills Daughter In Mesa Driveway

Tragedy struck in a Mesa when former Arizona State University and Arizona Cardinals football player Todd Heap accidently struck and killed his 3-year-old daughter in the family’s driveway.

According to police, the 3-year-old girl was in the driveway when her father was moving his truck at around 3:45 Friday afternoon.

Police first responded to a call of a car and pedestrian accident at the family home near Eagle Crest Drive and Las Sendas Mountain Drive in the Las Sendas community.

The 3-year-old girl was the youngest of his five children.

Heap, age 37, went to high school at Mountain View High School in Mesa, before attending Arizona State University. Heap played 10 years the NFL with the Ravens and Cardinals before retiring in 2012.
