On Tuesday May 30, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a grass fire in the Dragoon Mountain Ranch area near St David.
The Slavin Fire started at 3:30 p.m., on Tuesday 15 miles SE of Benson.
The initial call came in as a structure fire burning into the wildland. The fire is estimated at 50 acres and evacuations have been ordered for 12 structures in the Dragoon Ranch Estates.
Multiple Fire Departments have responded along with State Land and one structure is reported to be lost.
Several homeowners have been advised to evacuate and a reception center has been established at the St David High School pending additional information regarding the fire.
On Tuesday May 30, 2017 at approximately 3:48 pm, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a grass fire in the area of mile post 6 on Davis Road. The State Land Department responded along with additional fire departments and the fire appears to have been contained at approximately 4:43 p.m. with an estimate of over three acres burned.
Davis Road is closed for the remainder of the night.
On Tuesday May 30, 3017 at approximately 4:40 pm, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a grass fire in the Whetstone Mountains near Sands Ranch (mile post 307 off Highway 90). Initial information indicates approximately 8-10 acres are burning with wind gusts.
