Hikers Rescued In Tanque Verde Falls Area After Flash Flood [Video]

[UPDATE] From the Pima County Sheriff’s Office: Yesterday evening Search and Rescue deputies along with Southern Arizona Rescue Association (SARA) and Rural Metro Fire Department responded to reports of several hikers being stranded in Tanque Verde Falls. The recent rain had caused flash flooding which left all the hikers, including a four year old, in imminent danger of being swept away. Rescue efforts continued throughout the evening, concluding at 6:45 am this morning when the two remaining hikers were successfully rescued.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office rescued visitors to the Tanque Verde Falls area on Sunday after they had become trapped due to a flash flood.

According to ABC15 News, “The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says the group called for help just after 5:30 p.m. As of 9:00 p.m. Sunday, rescuers pulled eight people, including a 4-year-old boy, from the area using a helicopter.”

Rescue efforts continue.

Just last week, nine people were killed by a flash flood in the Cold Springs Swimming Hole North of Payson, Arizona.

The Payson Area experienced heavy rain throughout the region causing flash flooding in that area.

According to the Pima County  Sheriff’s Office, multiple roads were closed on Sunday due to flooding.
