Ajo Border Patrol Agents Seize Drugs, Weapon

Border Patrol agents from Tucson Sector’s Ajo Station stopped a vehicle Monday evening, near Why, Arizona, to conduct an immigration inspection and found three adult males with more than 260 pounds of marijuana and a .40-caliber handgun.

After stopping a 2004 Saturn, agents approached the vehicle on foot and noticed multiple bundles of marijuana in the back seat. Agents arrested the 18-year-old Mexican driver and two passengers, both later identified as U.S. citizens, ages 18 and 19.

A further search of the vehicle uncovered a Glock handgun hidden in the trunk of the vehicle. Agents turned over all three occupants, marijuana, gun and vehicle to Homeland Security Investigations.
