Sells Man Gets 37 Months in Prison for Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Alvin Edison Moreno, 53, of Sells, Ariz., a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins to 37 months in prison. Moreno had previously pleaded guilty to one count of abusive sexual contact of a minor.

The minor victim is also a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation. Moreno will be placed on lifetime federal supervision and be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The investigation in this case was conducted by both the Tohono O’odham Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution was handled by Charisse Arce and Micah Schmit, Assistant U.S. Attorneys, District of Arizona, Tucson.
