Cochise County Search and Rescue Saves Man In Flash Flood

On July 28, 2017 at approximately 8:00 pm, the Search and Rescue Team was dispatched to a swiftwater rescue on Cascabel Rd at milepost 2.

A caller reported witnessing a truck being swept away in a wash. The caller said the pickup truck drove into the water and was immediately turned then pushed off the road and disappeared under the water.

SAR arrived on scene and began searching for the vehicle and subject. The vehicle was located approximately 200 yards west of Cascabel Rd but the occupant was not in the truck.

The SAR team continued searching towards the San Pedro River and when they arrived at the river they could hear someone yelling for help. They located the occupant of the truck on the west side of the San Pedro River.

The team redeployed to Ocotillo Rd, hiked to the river and brought the subject out where he was treated and released by medics.

The 65 year old male subject had been washed approximately 3/4 of a mile from his vehicle to the San Pedro River.
