Sierra Vista Man Arrested For Stabbing His Roommate

The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a local man for attempted second degree murder on Saturday night after he stabbed his roommate multiple times.

SVPD police officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Peterson Street at about 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a stabbing had occurred. Officers found that 64-year-old Sierra Vista resident Rick Pastika had stabbed one of his roommates, 57-year-old Sierra Vista man Kurt Freeman, multiple times in his abdomen.

The two men had a disagreement that evening and alcohol was found to be a factor in the subsequent confrontation. Freeman was flown to a Tucson area trauma center as a result of his injuries and is currently in stable condition.

SVPD major crimes detectives responded to the residence to collect evidence and conduct interviews. They arrested Pastika on charges of attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and misconduct with weapons as a prohibited possessor. He is being held in the Cochise County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
