TPD Investigates Another Pedestrian Collision Near Prince Road

On Monday October 2, 2017, just after 8:15 p.m., Tucson Police Officers and paramedics from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a serious injury  involving a pedestrian and a minivan in the 1700 block of E. Prince Rd.

Paramedics were first on scene and immediately began rendering aid to the adult male pedestrian. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The pedestrian has been identified as 66-year-old David Rhoades. Next of kin have been notified. The driver of the minivan was not injured and remained on scene.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit is continuing the investigation. They were able to determine the driver of a beige 2004 Oldsmobile minivan was westbound on Prince Rd. from N. Campbell Ave. in the curb lane. Another vehicle was also traveling westbound on Prince Rd. in the median lane and began to slow.

The pedestrian was crossing Prince Rd. from south to north and was struck by the driver of the Oldsmobile. The pedestrian was not in or near a crosswalk. Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor in this collision related to the driver of the Oldsmobile.

The investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued at this time.
