On Thursday, Adrian Harvey, age 46, was sentenced to 20 years for the Second Degree Murder Conviction of 32-year-old Dawn Subia.
On December 2, 2001 family members discovered the body of Dawn Subia in her home with a gunshot wound to her head. Investigators determined that the last person to see her the night of her death was Adrian Harvey. He told police he had gone out with Subia the night before she died. He claimed they went to bar and then a club before they returned to Subia’s home where he watched her go safely into her home. He said that he tried to call her the next day, but she never answered.
The case was reopened in 2015 by Phoenix Police Detectives working in conjunction with the MCAO cold case Unit. Evidence was developed that Subia had suffered previous abuse at the hands of Adrian Harvey. Charges were filed against Harvey who at trial claimed Dawn committed suicide. Jurors were presented with forensic testimony proving Dawn was not holding a weapon when suffering the fatal wound. The defendant was convicted by a jury on October 25th, 2017.
