Tucson Father Arrested For 6-Month-Old Son

On February 8, 2018, just before 6:00 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members of the Tucson Fire Department responded to an apartment located at 520 W. Prince Road for a report of an unconscious child, 6-month-old Killian MacDonald, who was not breathing.

Upon arrival, Tucson Fire immediately took over medical treatment and transported the child to Banner University Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the boy was pronounced deceased.

Detectives interviewed Killian’s father, 22-year-old Zechariah MacDonald. It was determined that Zechariah was home alone with his two children (Killian and 2-year-old daughter) while their mother was at work. At some point in the afternoon, Zechariah wanted to take a nap and placed Killian in a playpen. Killian was crying, so Zechariah placed multiple blankets over his body to muffle the noise. Several hours later, Zechariah awoke and found Killian unresponsive.

After speaking with Zechariah and conducting a search warrant at the residence, detectives booked Zechariah MacDonald into the Pima County Jail on one count of Domestic Violence/Manslaughter.
