Blythe Border Patrol Agents Seize Weapon, Ammo, Drugs On I-10 Stop

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents in Blythe, California seized drugs, a loaded firearm, ammunition, and $12,000 following a vehicle stop Tuesday afternoon.

Blythe Station Border Patrol agents conducted an immigration stop on Interstate-10 at 11 a.m. yesterday. A canine alerted to the vehicle leading to the discovery of 0.64 pounds of cocaine, 0.027 pounds of methamphetamine, a loaded .38 caliber pistol, five rounds of ammunition, and $12,000.

The male driver, a 32-year old United States citizen, and all seized property were taken into custody by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Federal law allows agents to charge individuals by complaint, a method that allows the filing of charges for criminal activity without inferring guilt. An individual is presumed innocent unless or until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents effectively combat smuggling organizations attempting to illegally transport people and contraband through Southwestern Arizona and California.
