CBP K9 Team Finds 111 Bricks of Marijuana Near Tombstone

Agents assigned to the SR80 immigration checkpoint seized more than 100 packages of marijuana that was hidden inside of the trunk of a smuggling vehicle

Border Patrol agents from the Willcox Station arrested a Tucson woman Friday evening at the immigration checkpoint on State Route 80 near Tombstone after finding 111 bricks of marijuana hidden in her Chevrolet Impala.

An agent working the primary inspection lane directed the 29-year-old woman, traveling with her minor aged daughter, for a secondary inspection after a canine alerted to an odor it is trained to detect.

As a result, agents discovered approximately 123 pounds of marijuana worth in excess of $60,000.

Agents arrested the woman for narcotics smuggling and seized the drugs and vehicle. The Department of Child Protective Services was contacted and assisted in placing the child with a family member.
