Man Mesa Pepper Sprayed Women In Robbery

On April 6, 2018 Mesa Police Officers responded to a fight call at 250 W. 5th Street in Mesa, AZ. Officers learned this was not a fight but was rather a robbery and assault call. The victims were a mother and daughter who just returned home and were attempting to enter their residence when 35 year-old David Garcia wearing a stocking mask ran up to them and pepper sprayed both of them in their face and then physically assaulted them.

Garcia eventually reached into a purse and stole a wallet and cash before fleeing the scene. During the struggle one of the victims pulled on the stocking mask and both victims recognized Garcia.

Within a few hours, officers located Garcia at his residence where he was detained and ultimately admitted to being present at the scene. Garcia has been charged with one count of Robbery and one count of Assault.
