Rattlesnake Fire Burning Near Whiteriver

The Rattlesnake Fire was discovered around 1:30 p.m., April 11, 2018 and is currently estimated to be 165 acres. The fire is located about 20 miles southeast of Whiteriver in a remote location east of Rattlesnake Point.

According to authorities, no structures are threatened. The fire is burning just south of a previously prescribed burn area and moving towards the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest boundary. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

Officials report that resources on the fire include 2 Type 6 Engines, Air Attack, Fort Apache Hotshots, and Cibecue Fuels. A type 3 team is on order along with additional resources.
