Possible Tucson Gang Related Homicide Under Investigation

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating a possible gang related homicide that occurred early Wednesday morning on Tucson’s South Side.

On April 25, 2018, at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers responded to 1801 W. Ajo Way for a report of an injured male lying in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located the unresponsive victim who had obvious signs of trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene and identified as 20-year-old David Alvarez.

After learning Alvarez had known gang affiliations, detectives with the Tucson Police Gang Unit responded to continue the investigation. Although gang detectives are investigating the incident, it is uncertain at this time if the homicide was gang related. Detectives were able to determine that the homicide did not occur in the parking lot.

There are currently no suspects in custody. As detectives continue to follow-up on leads, they are asking anyone with information to please call 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
