A Maricopa County woman, Kimery Jorg, was sentenced last week to 20 years in the Department of Corrections with lifetime probation upon release after pleading guilty to four counts of child abuse involving her adopted daughters the day before her trial was set to begin.
On May 30, 2014 officers were called to the home of Kimery, age 58, and Johann Jorg after child protective services found two girls in the home, an 11-year-old and 13-year-old, were being abused through inhumane punishments including starvation, beatings with a wood paddle, running barefoot for several hours a day and forcing them to sleep outside in just a diaper despite the temperate.
Both Kimery and Johann Jorg admitted to investigators that they took part in harsh punishments for the girls and said that the girls needed the punishment for their bad behaviors and rule breaking. Detectives found that Kimery devised most of the punishments. She also kept a detailed list of the punishments and had notes throughout the house indicating what punishments were still owed by the children.
Johann Jorg pled guilty to two counts of child abuse and was sentenced on April 16, 2015 to 14 years in the Department of Corrections.
