On Thursday, President Donald Trump warned in a tweet of a massive border surge across the Arizona/Mexico border.

On Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Defense conducted a joint large-scale operational readiness exercise at the Port of Nogales, DeConcini Crossing.

The exercises were training in preparation to deal with the potential of large crowds and assaultive behavior by caravan members. They included tactical operations with the use of role players and inert smoke to simulate real world environments. This training will allow our officers to respond tactically should a situation arise.

As the border wall debate continues, the numbers of illegal entries into the U.S. in October and November are not up for debate. With 51,856 apprehensions and untold numbers of successful illegal entries in the months of October and November there is no disputing the fact that the border remains porous.

In November (FY19), 51,856 people were apprehended between ports of entry on the Southwest Border, compared with the 29,085 people apprehended between ports of entry on the Southwest Border in November (FY18).

In FY18, a total of 396,579 individuals were apprehended between ports of entry on our Southwest Border.

In November, 10,600 people presenting themselves at ports of entry on the Southwest Border were deemed inadmissible, compared with 9,770 in the month of October. In FY18, 124,511 people presenting themselves at ports of entry on the Southwest Border were deemed inadmissible.
