PHOENIX — Peoria Police Sergeant Jon Meck was indicted by a State Grand Jury on charges for fraudulent schemes and artifices and theft from the Arizona Tactical Officers Association.

Meck served on the board of the association as its treasurer between September 1, 2009, and August 2018,  said a release from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

ATOA is a nonprofit organization which provides tactical training to officers from police agencies throughout the state.

An investigation revealed that beginning in February 2012, Meck allegedly used the organization’s account to make personal purchases not authorized by the ATOA board.

Meck is on leave from his position with the Peoria Police Department.

The prosecutor in this case is Assistant Attorney General Jordyn Raimondo.
