Two sex offenders of minors arrested by Border Patrol agents

TUCSON  – Two males, one a convicted sex offender, the other with an outstanding warrant for six counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, were arrested by Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents during  the weekend in two separate incidents.

Border Patrol agents were patrolling U.S. Route 15 west of Tucson at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday when they conducted an immigration inspection on two male occupants of a white 2003 Ford Expedition, said a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

A background check revealed that one of the males, a 23-year-old Mexican national who was granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status, had an active felony warrant for six counts of sexual assault on a minor in Maricopa County.

The DREAMER was arrested by Pinal County Sheriff deputies who responded to the scene. The other man was released and the vehicle was impounded.

Border Patrol agents patrolling near the same area on Sunday arrested a 30-year-old man from El Salvador with a previous criminal conviction of exploitation of a minor, a crime for which he was sentenced to 30 days confinement and 36 months’ probation in Salt Lake City, Utah. After serving his sentence he was deported in 2010.”

That convicted sex offender was found hiding in the desert. He was attempting to evade arrest with five other men, from 18 to 38 years old. Three were nationals of El Salvador, one Mexican national and one  Guatemalan national. Those five men were arrested for immigration violations.
