Quartzsite traffic stop nets 140 pounds of meth

QUARTZITE — A Quartzsite Police officer and a K-9 unit discovered a 27-year-old male allegedly transporting about 140 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Sunday on Interstate 10.

The officer was working with a La Paz County Narcotics Task Force K9 handler, when he pulled over    Gabriel Vanier-Pop, said a release from the La Paz County Sheriff’f Office.

The K9 alerted on the scent of the meth, which was hidden in the vehicle.

Vanier-Pop was taken into custody and transported to the La Paz County Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.
