A 30-year-old Kentucky man, Cletius Jones, (yes it is his real name) was arrested on Tuesday after a nearly one-month investigation that started in Pinal County.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began an investigation into Jones on June 5, 2019, after he entered into an online chat room designated for children between the ages of 13 and 16. Jones messaged an undercover Pinal County detective who was posing as a 14-year-old girl.

During the course of the conversation, Jones attempted to pressure the undercover detective into sending inappropriate photos to him, claiming other teens have done if for him in the past and they have “loved it.” In addition, Jones sent inappropriate pictures of himself to the detective. Detectives were able to track down his location and reached out to authorities in Kentucky, where he was taken into custody.

“Not only was Jones having inappropriate conversations with what he thought was a 14 year old girl, but during those conversations with our detective, Jones claimed to be taking care of his one-year-old child,” said Sheriff Mark Lamb, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. “Our detectives worked quickly with the Kentucky detectives to ensure that Jones was taken into custody. I am thankful and proud of the hard work of all of the detectives involved.”

Jones is facing one count of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor and two counts of distribution of obscene material to a minor.
