TUCSON – A Santa Ana, California man, Mateo Dina Zavala, is in custody in connection with the shooting death of 25-year-old Marilynn Patricia Pacheco from Tucson.
Ms. Pacheco, an adult male, and a 3-year-old girl were shot while they were traveling on I-19 near Green Valley on Saturday, June 29.
Zavala was booked into the Pima County Sheriff’s Office Jail for 1st degree homicide, endangerment, 3 counts aggravated assault and 1 count drive by shooting.
According to authorities, on Saturday just after 5 p.m., Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers responded to reports of shots being fired between two vehicles on northbound I-19 near kilometer 65 (Esperanza Blvd).
Ms. Pacheco was pronounced deceased after being transported to Banner UMC.
