A Chandler man, Mustafa Hussein, is in custody in connection with the shooting death of his wife, Elshaymaa Elmesilhy.

According to Chandler Police, on July 14, 2019 around 5:00 a.m., officers were summoned to the 3200 block of West Stephens Place after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived they discovered 31-year-old Elshaymaa Elmesilhy unresponsive and with a gunshot wound to her chest. Elmesilhy was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators learned Elmesilhy’s husband, 37-year-old Mustafa Hussein, arrived home from work and, in the process of unloading his firearm, inadvertently shot Elmesilhy. After the initial shot was fired, Hussein panicked and inadvertently fired another round, which struck the bedroom floor. Hussein then called 911 along with Elmesilhy’s sister, who was staying at the residence with the couple and their two young children.

Hussein was arrested and booked into the Chandler/ Gilbert Jail on one count of 2nd Degree Murder (13-1104a(3)).
