Remote and inaccessible ground and excessive heat limits where firefighters can safely engage the fire perimeter.
Monsoon storms are developing around the fire area this afternoon, bring a chance of rain, but also the potential for shifting and gusty winds.
As a precaution, Forest Service Roads along State Highway 87 were closed to prevent the public from driving into several popular areas including: Lower Sycamore, Sugarloaf and Mesquite which are south and east of the Verde Fire.
