Oro Valley – Oro Valley Police Department have identified Margery Jones, age 71, as the victim of a deadly crash that occurred on August 5, 2019 at approximately 11:10 a.m.
On August 5, Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) officers responded to a report of a crash involving a garbage truck and a passenger car at the intersection of Tangerine Road and Innovation Park Drive. When officers arrived they located the driver of the garbage truck and two occupants in the passenger car. Ms. Jones, the driver of the passenger car, was pronounced deceased on scene. The passenger in the car was transported to a Banner UMC and the driver of the garbage truck was medically evaluated on scene and was not transported.
According to witnesses, the driver of the garbage truck was eastbound on Tangerine Road and had the red light. The garbage truck collided with the passenger car which was northbound on Innovation Park Drive. There were no signs of impairment and the garbage truck driver reported he thought he had the green light.
