On August 18, 2019 around 4:30 a.m., 35-year-old Kpou Sawi Armstrong robbed the Circle K located at 6969 West Ray Road, according to Chandler Police Detective Seth Tyler. Armstrong brandished a firearm and, after demanding cash and cigarettes, fled the scene in a white sedan.

After the robbery, the victim called 911 and provided a description of Armstrong and the getaway vehicle, reported Tyler.

Meanwhile, three Chandler officers were investigating a possible DUI driver across the street in the McDonald’s parking lot located at 9955 South Priest Drive in Tempe. The officers heard an Attempt To Locate broadcast from Chandler dispatch regarding the Circle K armed robbery. As the two heard the ATL, the suspect vehicle entered the McDonalds parking lot.

Armstrong was immediately taken into custody. Along with evidence to support Armstrong’s role in the armed robbery, officers also located marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Armstrong was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on multiple felonies to include Armed Robbery, and Possession of Marijuana.
