Surprise Police have arrested 37 year-old Lorraine Duarte Nila in connection with the death of her boyfriend 39 year-old George Urena.
According to the Surprise Police Department, on August 16, around 11:10 a.m., officers were called to a home near Grand Avenue and Norwich Road regarding reports of a man that had been shot.
When officers arrived they found Mr. Urena unresponsive and suffering from trauma that appeared to be consistent with a gunshot wound. Mr. Urena was pronounced deceased on scene.
Investigators learned that Mr. Urena and Duarte Nila, had been in a verbal argument. During the argument, she allegedly picked up a handgun which was subsequently discharged, striking him.
Duarte Nila was booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue jail for one count of 2nd degree murder.
