Previously Deported NY Registered Sex Offender Arrested By Border Patrol Agents

TUCSON – Ramon Romano-Ortega was arrested by Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents patrolling east of Nogales around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Romano-Ortega, a 44-year-old Mexican national illegally present in the United States, will face federal prosecution for immigration violations.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a records checks revealed Romano-Ortega was convicted of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree and criminal possession of a loaded firearm in 2014 in New York County, New York.

Romano-Ortega, a registered sex offender, also has multiple felony weapon violations. He was last deported from the United States in 2014.
