Glendale Bank Robber Caught After Using Dyed Money At Casino

GLENDALE – Richie Steven Hayes has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery after he tried to launder the stolen money in a casino.

According to Glendale Police, on January 24, 2020, Hayes was pulled over in the same vehicle he used in the bank robbery.

The 51-year-old Hayes admitted to detectives his involvement in the robbery and how he was eventually caught. He explained that he would use the money he could not remove the dye from in the slot machines at casinos, to exchange for other bills.

Tohono O’Odham Nation Police had notified Glendale detectives they had several bills with dye on them and provided the suspect vehicle information.

Hayes was charged with one count of armed robbery and booked on other charges by officers from Tohono O’Odham Nation Police Department.
