PHOENIX – A Phoenix tax preparer, Susana Gonzalez, has pleaded guilty to preparing a tax return she knew included false information.

According to Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (CI), Gonzales pleaded guilty to one count of aiding or assisting in the preparation of false and fraudulent income tax returns. Gonzalez also agreed to pay restitution up to $300,000 to all victims harmed by her relevant conduct.

In 2016, Gonzalez prepared and electronically filed a false 2015 tax return with the Internal Revenue Service on behalf of a client. At the time, Gonzalez operated a tax return preparation service, GTS Tax Service. The income tax return included Schedule A deductions that she knew were false or inflated, and Gonzalez included them so that the client would receive a larger tax refund, according to a CI press release.
