Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Employee Tests Positive For Cornoavirus

WORK FURLOUGH AND WORK RELEASE PROGRAMS SUSPENDED

Phoenix, AZ – An employee of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, who works out of the Headquarters Building located at 550 W. Jackson St. in Phoenix, has been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says it is currently working with employees who have been identified as potential close contacts and may have been exposed to the virus.

The Sheriff’s Office advises that the Headquarters Building will be deep cleaned and sanitized to ensure the safety of employees and full access will resume on Monday, March 30.

Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone announced on Thursday the suspension of the Work Furlough and Work Release programs currently in place at Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office facilities as of 6 p.m on Friday, March 27, 2020. This suspension will continue through the pendency of the Declaration of Emergency COVID – 19 issued by the Governor’s Office on March
11, 2020.
