PHOENIX – On Friday, Republicans were shocked when Arizona Democrat Congressman Ruben Gallego accused President Trump supporters of being “angry, angry white men and women that align somehow with the Confederacy.”

“Gallego’s remarks could be offensive if they came from someone who actually knows what he is talking about, but coming from Gallego, they are like that annoying buzzing in your ear from a petulant, irritating mosquito,” said Jose Borrajero, director of the Arizona People’s Lobbyist. “The fact is that people of all colors and ethnicities support Trump, not because they are angry, but because they are happy about their state of affairs. It is a fact that unemployment rates for everyone, including blacks and Hispanics are at an all time low under Trump’s policies. Trump has consistently put America’s interests first. Making America Great Again has transitioned from a slogan into a reality. Successes under Trump are something that people like Gallego can not stomach, and that makes them behave foolishly, which is to say quite Gallego-like.”

“As a fellow combat veteran, Ruben should know the dangers of dehumanizing your enemies,” said Sergio Arellano, a Latino community leader. “Although he lost his way, I hope someday that Ruben will once again adopt a soldier’s core values and they will be reflected in his speech. As it stands, his comments are not only baseless they show a contempt for people who simply disagree with them. I served my country honorably and support our President. To imply that those who support President Trump are traitors is despicable.”

“This type of divisive and hateful rhetoric has regrettably become the norm for many elected Democrats who can’t come to grips with the fact that there are millions of voters who don’t share their same far-left political views,” said Republican Party of Arizona Chairwoman Kelli Ward. “Ruben’s comments are disgraceful, demeaning, and a direct insult to the men and women who voted for and support President Trump. He should immediately apologize for using this inflammatory and bigoted language to describe his fellow American citizens.”

Popular radio show host, James T. Harris, a Black American, called Gallego’s statement “racist:”

Gallego earned the nickname “The Troll” while serving in the Arizona State House and has since then earned a reputation as a flame thrower due to his fiery rhetoric.

Citing polls, Ward claimed in a press release that the data clearly shows Americans of every race, ethnicity, and background support the President, and the numbers are “significant enough to alarm Democrats that the support they traditionally count on from this group could be diminished in November.”

Ward compared Gallego’s comment to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s “deplorables” comment.
