Pima County Board Of Supervisors Rescinds Mask Mandate, Adopts New Guidance

On Friday, the Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to follow the lead of the Centers for Disease Control which remarkably decided to follow the science and admit that people who are fully vaccinated do not need to wear a face mask.

Supervisor Steve Christy was the lone no vote, preferring instead to allow residents to take personal responsibility in determining their need to wear a mask or get vaccinated.

The Board passed a new Resolution that recommends the unvaccinated and people who are between their first and second doses of the vaccine to keep wearing their face masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Board’s vote repealed Resolution 2020-96, which mandated mask wearing, and replaced it with Resolution 2021-35, which includes “guidance” that follows the CDC’s newest masking guidance.
