PHOENIX — A Scottsdale woman, Tracey Kay McKee, is accused of voting in the name of her deceased mother in the 2020 General Election. McKee pleaded not guilty on June 30.

According to the indictment handed down on May 4, McKee was indicted on one count of illegal voting and one count of perjury for allegedly casting a vote in the name of her deceased mother through an early ballot in the 2020 General Election.

The indictment alleges McKee signed the name of her mother who died on Oct. 5, 2020, to an early ballot envelope on or between Oct. 7, 2020, and Nov. 3, 2020.

According to AZMirror.com, “Voter registration records from the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office show that McKee is a registered Republican.”

The AZMirror reports that the case came to the attention of the attorney general’s election integrity unit by way of Merissa Hamilton, “who submitted the names of deceased voters “who may have voted” in the 2020 general election.”

McKee’s next court appearance is set for Aug. 11 in Maricopa County Superior Court.

There are currently five active election-related criminal cases in Superior Courts statewide.
