Brophy Principal Ignores Concerns About Vaccine Mandate, Suggests Webinar For Skeptics

Just days before the school announced they were mandating vaccines for students, Brophy College Preparatory (Brophy) held a maskless, no-vaccine required sleepover in the gym for athletes and their parents. Now, school leaders are telling parents and supporters who oppose the vaccine mandate to pound sand.

On Tuesday, Brophy Principal Bob Ryan answered a letter questioning the vaccine mandate signed by a coalition of hundreds of parent, alumni, lawmakers, and boosters of the male only school.

According to the CDC, “more than 300 cases of heart inflammation have been documented after the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines,” reports NPR. “The cases have been seen mostly in ale teens and young adults between 12 and 39 years old.”

That Brophy coalition questioned what they perceived to be fallacies and contradictions posed by the mandate in a letter to Ryan last Friday. Ryan ignored their concern in his response, and instead invited the letter group to a vaccine informational webinar featuring pediatric specialist Dr. Jodi Carter, infectious disease specialist Dr. Ana Moran, and epidemiologist Dr. Nick Staab.

In their letter, the coalition proposed changes or for the board of trustees to convene for a discussion of the policy no later than August 23, 2021.

The group made the request based on its belief that “in its current form, the school’s new policy is both underinclusive and overinclusive in material ways.”

The letter writers also took exception to the quarantine policy as well as the testing policy which they also argue both “underinclusive and overinclusive in material ways.”

In their carefully crafted letter, the group alleges that the “Vaccine Alternative” is intentionally overburdensome even going so far as to deny unvaccinated student access to some learning opportunities.

Ryan announced that Brophy will bring on-site vaccinations and testing to campus by September 13, ignoring the group’ claims about the efficacy of on-campus and at-home tests.
