Sinema and Kelly: Stand with Workers and Reject the PRO Act

Mark Kelly was sworn in as the new senator from Arizona by VP Mike Pence. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema was at his side.

Six years ago I was struggling as a single mom to support myself and my son. I was about to lose my house, but my hectic schedule meant a typical nine-to-five job just didn’t work for me. That all changed when I started driving with Uber. Now, I have the flexibility I need to drop my son off at school, take care of my bills, and grow my own small business.

However, the Senate might pass a bill called the PRO Act, which could take that flexibility away from app-based workers like me. The bill could take many independent contractors who need the ability to work when they want and reclassify them as employees with strict and rigid schedules.

There are many people like me in Arizona and across the country who rely on the flexibility that app-based work provides, and we’re counting on our senators representing Arizonans in Washington, Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly, to stand with us and reject the PRO Act.
