The Laz Paz County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Sgt. Michael Rudd, who was struck and killed by a commercial vehicle on Interstate-10.
Shortly after midnight Sgt. Rudd, officers from the Quartzsite Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety were involved in a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 10 eastbound near milepost 37. During the incident Sgt. Rudd was struck by a commercial truck.
Sgt. Rudd was transported to Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe but succumbed to his injuries.
Sgt. Michael Rudd had served the citizens of La Paz County since 2013 and was promoted to Sergeant in March of 2021, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Vehicular Crimes Unit from the Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigation the incident.
