Woman Arrested, Border Patrol Agents Seize Load Of Fentanyl At I-19 Checkpoint

TUCSON, AZ – On Monday morning, U.S. Border Patrol agents working the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint near Amado, Arizona, arrested the driver, a 33-year-old U.S. citizen female and seized a load of suspected fentanyl.

A canine alert along with imaging technology led Tucson Sector agents to discover a hidden compartment in the bed of the pickup that contained multiple packages of blue pills.

The pills tested positive for the characteristics of fentanyl and weighted more than 53 pounds.

Agents transferred custody of the suspected fentanyl and the suspect to the Drug Enforcement Administration, who will be pursuing prosecution.
